MLE transshipment is the movement of cargo through Velana International Airport in the Maldives on its way between two other countries, rather than to the Maldives as a final destination. Avia Cargo Services coordinates general cargo arriving at MLE by air or by sea and connects it to an onward international flight to Europe, the USA, the Middle East and other markets.

Air-to-air transshipment means cargo arrives at MLE by air and departs on another international flight. Sea-to-air means cargo arrives by sea at the Port of Malé, is transferred to Velana International Airport and then connects to an onward international air service. Sea-to-air usually costs less than a full air movement from Asia and is faster than port-to-port ocean freight, subject to routing, capacity, airline and applicable operational requirements.

Send the routing (air, sea or sea-to-air), commodity, number of pieces, gross weight, dimensions, ready date, required transit time, Incoterm, AWB or BL information and any special handling requirements. You receive a written rate with the routing and coordination plan, normally inside two working hours on a business day.

Yes. As a licensed clearing agent we lodge import and export declarations with Maldives Customs, classify goods under the correct HS heading, apply for the required permits and duty exemptions, attend physical inspections and arrange release and delivery. Declarations are pre-lodged before arrival so cargo is not sitting in storage while paperwork is prepared.
